Steven R. Barczi, MD is associate professor of medicine at the University of Wisconsin Medical School – Madison. He also is director of the Geriatric Medicine Fellowship Program at the University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics – Madison, the Geriatrics Research, Education, and Clinical Center (GRECC) – Madison, the Diamond Team Geriatric Medical Clinics, and he serves as director of the Geriatric Sleep Clinic at William S. Middleton Memorial Veterans Administration Hospital, in Madison.

After receiving his bachelors in physiology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Dr. Barczi earned his medical degree from the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Chicago. He subsequently served his internship and residency in internal medicine at the University of Minnesota Affiliated Hospitals Minneapolis and St. Paul, Minn. followed by fellowships in geriatric medicine and sleep medicine at the University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics – Madison.

As an author, teacher, and researcher in the field of sleep and sleep disorders in older adults, Dr. Barczi is frequently invited to speak at local, regional, and national conferences, and his work is published in peer-reviewed journal articles, book chapters, and poster presentations. His leadership skills and dedication to teaching have also earned him certificates of achievement from the Medical Education Development and Leadership Program at the University of Wisconsin Medical School. In 2004, Dr. Barczi was honored with an Excellence in Teaching Award by the University of Wisconsin Department of Medicine. He is listed in “Who’s Who in American Professionals” (2004) and in the “Guide to America’s Top Physicians” (2005) published by the Consumer’s Research Council of America, a Washington, D.C. based research organization whose purpose is to educate and assist consumers in obtaining the finest professional services.

Dr. Barczi is a member of several professional organizations including the American Geriatrics Society, National Sleep Foundation, and American Association of Sleep Medicine.
