Jan Marie Bruder, MD is associate professor of medicine, clinical chief in
the Division of Endocrinology, program director of the Subspecialty Training
Program in Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism, and director of the Osteoporosis
and Metabolic Bone Disease Clinic at the University of Texas Health Science
Center at San Antonio.
Dr. Bruder earned her medical degree at Louisiana State University in New Orleans.
Her residency in internal medicine was completed at the Medical College of Virginia
in Richmond, followed by an endocrine fellowship at the University of Colorado
in Denver. Subsequently, she joined the faculty at the University of Colorado
where she was responsible for the osteoporosis clinic and was actively involved
in the study of the regulation of gonadotropin releasing hormone gene expression.
In 1996, she joined the faculty at the University of Texas Health Science Center
as assistant professor of medicine in the Division of Endocrinology and Metabolism,
where today she continues her academic and professional activities.
Dr. Bruder is a diplomate of The American Board of Internal Medicine and has
subspecialty certification in endocrinology and metabolism. She also is certified
as a clinical densitometrist by The International Society for Clinical Densitometry.
She is the author or co-author of many abstracts and articles, and several
book chapters. Dr. Bruder also is a member of several professional societies.
She currently serves on the education committee for The American Society for
Bone and Mineral Research, the membership committee of The Endocrine Society,
and the faculty panel for the certification course in bone densitometry for
The International Society for Clinical Densitometry.
