Allen S. Burris, MD is assistant clinical professor of medicine at the Medical College of Virginia, Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond. He is the past medical director of the Diabetes Care Center of Johnston-Willis Medical Center also in Richmond, and is attending endocrinologist at the Chippenham/Johnston-Willis Medical Center. Dr. Burris completed his residency at Emory University Affiliated Hospitals in Atlanta, and a fellowship in endocrinology at the National Institutes of Health, Bethesda, Maryland.

Board certified in internal medicine and endocrinology/metabolism, and a member of several professional organizations, Dr. Burris has been a recipient of the prestigious American Diabetes Association Recognition with Distinction Award. He also is the author of noted scientific publications and has been an invited presenter at numerous key medical conferences and continuing medical education activities.
