Raymond E. Cole, DO is clinical assistant professor in the Department of Internal
Medicine at Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine in East
Lansing, and director of the Osteoporosis Testing Center of Michigan, in Brooklyn.
Dr. Cole is a graduate of the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed
his residency training at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, and is certified
in family practice by the American Osteopathic Association Board of Family Practice.
Dr. Cole is a certified clinical densitometrist and also a certified personal
fitness trainer. Previously, he served as host of “Focus on Heath,“
a weekly television program addressing health-related topics.
He is the author of four books: Best Body, Best Bones; Exercising Your
Wellpower; Choices for Health; and Osteoporosis: Unmasking a Silent
Thief. Dr. Cole also has authored many health feature newspaper articles,
medical journal articles, patient information papers, and scientific abstracts.
He was selected as the physician representative to speak to legislators, policy
makers, physicians, and other healthcare providers at the First Chronic Disease
Prevention and Management State Conference in East Lansing, Mich. Dr. Cole was
honored with the Marion Laboratory Writing Award in recognition of his contributions
to clinical writing in 1975, and in the past year he received the 2003 Doctors’
Writing Contest Award for Best Practice Solution by Medical Economics
for his article titled, “Buying a Densitometer: FAQs Answered.“
Dr. Cole is an invited presenter at numerous patient and physician conferences
on osteoporosis and fitness. He currently is a principal investigator in a clinical
study of the disparity in left/right hip T-Scores and its effect on osteoporosis
diagnosis and treatment decision making.
