Vivian M. Dickerson, MD, is Director of the Division of General OB/GYN at the University of California, Irvine (UCI) Medical Center. She is also Associate Clinical Professor for UCI's Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology and a senior research analyst for the Susan Samueli Complementary and Alternative Medicine Center. Dr. Dickerson utilizes her clinical expertise in women's health issues as an invited speaker for various symposia and grand rounds throughout the United States, speaking on such topics as the diagnosis and treatment of PMDD, the management of menopause, and hormone replacement therapy. Dr. Dickerson has also authored or co-authored numerous scientific publications.

Dr. Dickerson attended the University of California at San Diego and received her MD in 1981. Dr. Dickerson then completed her internship and residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, where she was Chief Resident from 1984-1985. Dr. Dickerson is certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, of which she is currently Diplomat and Examiner. Throughout her career, she has received recognition from her field through various awards and honors, such as the American Medical Women's Association Gender Equity Award (2000) and the Continuing Medical Education Award of The American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology (1999-2002).

Dr. Dickerson is a reviewer for the American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology and an associate editor for The Female Patient-Obstetrics and Gynecology Edition Total Healthcare for Women. She is a member of the Expert Steering Committee on Women and Heart Disease for the Jacobs Institute of Women's Health and the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ). In addition to these professional commitments, Dr. Dickerson serves as an accredited representative to the United Nations for the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.

Dr. Dickerson's research interests include pre-cancer screening, contraception, complementary and alternative medicine, chronic pain syndromes, PMS, and peri- and post-menopausal health.
