Christopher Donner, MD is president and chairman of the board, chief of the
Division of Endocrinology, and head of the Wellness Program at the Sansum-Santa
Barbara Medical Foundation Clinic. He also is an assistant clinical professor
at the University of Southern California School of Medicine.
Dr. Donner received his bachelor’s degree from Stanford University and
his medical degree, with Alpha Omega Alpha honors, from the University of Southern
California School of Medicine. He completed his residency in internal medicine
at the Oregon Health Sciences University in Portland. Dr. Donner returned to
Stanford University for a fellowship in endocrinology and metabolism; while
there, he co-authored numerous articles on insulin resistance with his mentor,
Gerald Reaven, MD. His research has appeared in Diabetes, The Journal of
Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism, Clinical Research, and Metabolism.
Dr. Donner is a fellow of the American College of Endocrinology and a fellow
of the American College of Physicians.
Dr. Donner has won several Excellence in Teaching awards
at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital’s Internal Medicine residency program
and is active in diabetic-oriented clinical research. Dr. Donner was recently
featured on Medical Crossfire, additionally,
he delivered metabolic syndrome lectures at the 2002 Endocrine Society and
American College of Clinical Endocrinologists national meetings.
