Donald C. Goff, MD is an Associate Professor in the division of Psychiatry
at Harvard Medical School, Cambridge, Massachusetts and Medical Director of
the Freedom Trail Clinic. Dr. Goff serves as Director of the Schizophrenia program
at Massachusettes General Hospital, integrating clinical care, teaching, and
research. Specifically, Dr. Goff's areas of research interest include examination
of the glutamatergic system as a target for pharmacological treatment and developments
utilizing advances from the neurosciences to improve treatment and functioning
for people with schizophrenia.
Dr. Goff earned his MD from the University of California, Los Angeles in 1980.
His post-doctoral training includes an internship in Internal Medicine at Cedars-Sinai
Medical Center in Los Angeles and Chief Resident of inpatient service at Massachusetts
General Hospital (MGH). Twice in the past decade, Dr. Goff has received the
Outstanding Teacher Award (in Psychiatry) at MGH. Additionally, The Massachusetts
Psychiatric Association awarded him the Outstanding Psychiatrist Award in Research.
Dr. Goff has published numerous reviews and articles pertaining to various aspects
of schizophrenia in journals such as Biological Psychiatry and American Journal
of Psychiatry. His current professional memberships include American Psychiatric
Association and the Massachusetts Psychiatric Association.
