Barry L. Hainer, MD is professor of family medicine and the director of clinical
services for the Department of Family Medicine at the Medical University of
South Carolina in Charleston, S.C.
Dr. Hainer earned his undergraduate degree at The John Hopkins University in
behavioral sciences and his doctorate of medicine at Georgetown University School
of Medicine. His residency training as a family physician was completed at the
Medical University of South Carolina. Dr. Hainer also holds a Certificate of
Added Qualification in Geriatrics from the American Boards of Family Practice
and Internal Medicine.
After practicing in rural Virginia, Dr. Hainer spent more than 25 years in
a career as a medical educator, including serving as director of residency training
for family physicians at East Carolina University and the Medical University
of South Carolina.
