James V. Hennessey, MD currently is associate professor, Division of Endocrinology
at Brown University's Brown Medical School in Providence, Rhode Island, where
he also serves as associate director of clinical education. Dr. Hennessey earned
his undergraduate degree in biology at Saint Michael's College in Winooski,
Vermont, then received his doctorate of medicine from the University of Graz
Medical School in Graz, Austria.
He completed an internal medicine internship
and residency at The New Britain Hospital in Connecticut, and was a fellow
in endocrinology at the Walter Reed
Army Medical Center in Washington, DC. Dr. Hennessey has been the recipient
of the Bailey K Ashford Research Award and is principal investigator or co-investigator
in several key clinical trials, as well as an invited presenter at numerous
medical conferences, both regionally and nationally.
As author or co-author, Dr. Hennessey's work, has been published in many leading
medical journals, including the Annals of Internal Medicine, Archives of
Internal Medicine, and the Journal Thyroid. He is a fellow of
the American College of Physicians and a member of the American Thyroid Association.
Research and clinical interests include thyroxine replacement therapy, low iodine
diet preparation for iodine scanning and other topics in clinical thyroidology.
