Barry Jones, MD

Barry Jones, MD, received his medical degree from McGill University. He subsequently completed his specialty training in psychiatry, also at McGill. He attended Harvard University on an MRC fellowship and then returned to McGill and the Allan Memorial Institute to work as an assistant professor of psychiatry and staff psychiatrist. Dr. Jones began his career working in the area of general psychopharmacology, but shifted toward new drug treatments for schizophrenia when he moved to the University of British Columbia. He has also worked at the University of Ottawa and most recently at McMaster University.

Dr. Jones has published in the areas of genetics of schizophrenia, drug treatments for schizophrenia, and psychoactive drug withdrawal syndromes. He was the founding chair of the Canadian Alliance for Research on Schizophrenia.

He joined Eli Lilly at their Canadian affiliate in October 1995. He is currently Senior Clinical Research Physician, supporting the Corporate Zyprexa Line Extension Team in Indianapolis, Indiana. Also, he retains an appointment as a part-time professor of psychiatry at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada.
