Richard T. Kloos, MD is associate professor of internal medicine for the Division of Endocrinology and Metabolism, and also of radiology for the Division of Nuclear Medicine at The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio. He is an attending physician at the Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and the Richard J. Solove Research Institute, also at The Ohio State University Medical Center. Dr. Kloos is board certified in both nuclear medicine and internal medicine, with subspecialty certification in endocrinology, diabetes, and metabolism.
A graduate of the University of Chicago, Dr. Kloos received his medical degree from Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine in Cleveland, Ohio, where he also served his internship in internal medicine, and completed his residency training. His postdoctoral training continued at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, first in the Division of Endocrinology and Metabolism, and then in the area of nuclear medicine.
Dr. Kloos focuses his research on thyroid cancer, including current research in thyroid cancer diagnosis, imaging, therapy, and surveillance, thyroid cancer genetics, gene therapy, and the sodium iodine symporter. He is a member of the National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN) Committee for thyroid carcinoma practice guidelines since 1998.

As an author of more than 38 peer-reviewed journal articles and book chapters, he is a reviewer for several journals including Steroids, Archives of Internal Medicine, Archives of Medical Research, and the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism. In addition, he is an active member of the American Thyroid Association, the Endocrine Society, the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists, and the Society of Nuclear Medicine.
